MATCH RULES

FIXTURES | |
|
A list is provided each year on the Membership Card and from the Match Secretary. | |
|
When Senior matches are held on club waters, Members must cease fishing two hours before the start and may resume one hour after the finish. | |
|
Times shown for Association competitions are draw times. Fishing will commence when a whistle is blown at a time given out at the draw. Finish times are as shown. | |
|
QUERIES | |
|
All match queries should be referred to the Match Secretary. | |
|
UNFISHABLE WATERS | |
|
If waters booked for a match are considered by the Match Secretary to be unfishable, he may transfer the match to other waters fishable or cancel the match. Details of alternative venues will be given out at the preceding match. Members should contact the Match Secretary to confirm the venue if there is doubt as to whether the original venue is fishable. The Match Secretary may change the fishing time and venue if he feels that circumstances merit it. | |

PREMATURE TERMINATION OF A MATCH | |
|
If for any reason, a Match is stopped before the stated finishing time by the Match Secretary, all fish caught by that time will count. | |
|
BOOKING IN FEES | |
|
Booking-in fees in each Association competition (excluding special matches) are £5 payable on the day of the match. For Christmas competition Matches an extra £1 is payable to special prize fund. Evening matches are £3. | |
|
LATE COMPETITORS | |
|
Competitors arriving late must report to the Match Secretary. | |
|
PRIZES | |
|
After deducting £1.50 per entrant for expenses, the balance will be paid in prizes (to nearest 50p). If 12 or more entrants, prizes would be paid for 1st (40%), 2nd (30%), 3rd (20%), 4th (10%). | |
|
Place prizes will be paid out after the end of the match. | |
|
Prize money not collected immediately after the match will be forfeit. | |
|
FISH EXCLUDED FROM WEIGHING IN | |
|
Unless specifically included, Pike are barred from weighing-in. Trout and Sea Trout in season may be weighed-in. | |
|
EXCLUDED METHODS OF FISHING | |
|
No spinning or fly-fishing allowed in matches. No electronic bite alarms to be used. | |
|
LIVEBAIT | |
|
All livebait used must be caught during the match. | |
|
KEEPNETS | |
|
Keepnets should be preferably carp-safe. | |
|
Two keepnets are required for matches at Roosthole and Foxhole, one of which must be of carp-safe material. | |
|
THE DRAW | |
|
The draw for choice of swim will take place at the time stated on the fixture list. | |
|
PEGGED MATCHES | |
|
On pegged matches, competitors will draw for swims and must fish that peg for the duration of the match. | |
|
ROVER MATCHES | |
|
On rover matches swims to be taken up in strict order. Competitors may only move swims in rover matches up to 3 hours before the end,and any fish caught must be returned before moving. All tackle must be removed from the swim they are leaving to allow another competitor to fish that swim. | |
|
DISTANCE BETWEEN COMPETITORS | |
|
On ponds and lakes no Member to fish within nine yards, each side, of another Member without his consent. On rivers and streams this distance shall be fifteen yards. Any breach in the Rule will disqualify a Member from weighing-in. | |
|
COMMENCEMENT OF FISHING | |
|
Fishing will commence when a whistle is blown at the start time to be given out at the draw. Competitors may only break the water before the whistle to place a keepnet and test the depth. | |
|
CESSATION OF FISHING | |
|
Matches will end on the whistle at the time shown on the fixture list unless it is agreed before the match that the end time is different to that stated. All competitors must remove their rods and line from the water at the sound of the whistle to indicate the end of the match. | |
|
Fish hooked before the whistle, but landed afterwards, may be weighed-in. | |
|
JUNIORS | |
|
Juniors, fishing in a senior match, must be accompanied by an adult competitor who will act as Guardian, responsible for their safety and behaviour. | |
|
WEIGHING-IN | |
|
Competitors fish will not be weighed-in if there is litter in the vicinity of his swim. | |
|
PROTESTS | |
|
Competitors wishing to lodge a protest against any other competitor must do so at the time of the weigh-in, and confirm the same in writing within four days. | |
|
CHRISTMAS MATCHES | |
|
Christmas Match Prizes to be for the heaviest total weight of silverfish weighed in over the three legs of the Match. Pike 2lb and over included in legs after 1st October. | |
|
TROPHIES | |
|
Silver Challenge Cup |
Awarded for the highest number of points accumulated over a Member's matches for the season. The winner of a match will be awarded points equivalent to the number of Members fishing the match. |
|
ASH Millennium Cup |
Awarded to the person with the second highest points accumulated over the season. |
|
Parkhurst Challenge Cup |
The heaviest total weight over the season at Roosthole. |
|
Cook Challenge Cup |
The heaviest total catch of Pike during the season in matches. Minimum size limit 2lb. |
|
R L Charman Memorial Trophy |
Heaviest individual catch at Roosthole (Pike barred). |
|
A R Smallwood Memorial Cup |
Heaviest Pike caught in a match. |
|
Freddie Jordan Memorial Cup |
|
|
D Smith Shield |
The member over 60yrs old with the highest total of points gained during the season. |
|
Dorothy Surridge Memorial Cup |
Heaviest weight at Roosthole in Matches by a Member over 60yrs of age. |
|
Malcolm Warren Shield |
Awarded for the heaviest total weight over the season at Birchenbridge. |
